Taiparoro House 1882 is a boutique-style private guesthouse located in the heart of Tauranga city for sale by Malcolm Teesdale.
Overlooking Tauranga harbour, in a quiet residential street, it is one of the few remaining heritage properties in the Tauranga area. Taiparoro House was built in 1882 by a former mayor of Tauranga, in a traditional Victorian villa style, and is a Category II heritage listed building with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.
Over the years Taiparoro House 1882 has been lovingly maintained and restored. Although it still maintains many beautiful period features, with wonderful timber and parquet floors, timber joinery and high moulded ceilings, it has been updated to a high standard with a contemporary theme and furnishings.
Sympathetic extensions, specifically designed as guest accommodation, have created five individually designed bedrooms: a harbour view suite which has a luxury bathroom with an original clawfoot bath, and four further ensuite rooms. The bedrooms have been beautifully decorated to suit the heritage style of the property and individual character. Guests also enjoy a large lounge and a dining room.
Taiparoro House offer guests a peaceful homely environment which is relaxing and comfortable. The large conservatory looks out on nikau palms and kauri trees and the well-tended garden overlooks Tauranga Harbour from its elevated position. There’s a double garage and off-street parking for 3 cars.
The property is in a lovely area and is a leisurely 10 - 15 minute walk to the harbour front which is lined with eateries. There are also excellent restaurants a few minutes walk away.
The contemporary dine-in kitchen separates the guest wing from the owners’ accommodation. Here there are two bedrooms, a family bathroom, a huge and glorious lounge (formerly the ballroom) and a couple of retreats. Several deck and verandah areas give access to the garden and complete the picture.
The business is new – just some 18 months old – but is growing fast and has enormous potential. Linking with inbound wholesalers will see growth in both room rates and guest numbers.
