Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) has signed an agreement with property developers JQZ to introduce the Marriott Hotels brand to Western Sydney in 2027. The Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta is slated to be the fifth Marriott Hotels & Resorts property in Australia, and the second in New South Wales.
Situated in a prime location on Church Street as part of a mixed-use development, the 279-room new build premium hotel will mark Marriott International’s entry to Parramatta and is set to be the premier accommodation offering in the city’s thriving central business district (CBD).
“The signing of Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta marks Marriott Hotel’s debut in Parramatta, a city experiencing significant public and private investment as it evolves into Sydney’s second CBD. With strong demand drivers across commerce, technology, education, and the arts, Parramatta is a strategic location for Marriott’s expansion. We are very confident that a Marriott Hotel, with its legacy of Wonderful Hospitality, offering the benefits of a full-service international hotel, will have excellent prospects of long-term success.” said Richard Crawford, Vice President - Developments, ANZP, Marriott International.
Marriott Hotels & Resorts, the namesake brand of Marriott Bonvoy’s extraordinary portfolio of over 30 brands, has a worldwide reputation for timeless hospitality and modern, sophisticated spaces. The new Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta is expected to feature an M Club Lounge, a restaurant, a café, a lobby lounge, a rooftop swimming pool complete with a pool bar, a fitness centre, plus extensive function and meeting facilities, offering world class facilities for both business and leisure stays.
Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta will be the centrepiece of a large-scale mixed-use project, set to also include residential apartments, alongside retail and commercial tenancies, with construction already underway. Major infrastructure projects including the WestConnex motorway, Parramatta Light Rail, The Metro West rail line, and the Western Sydney Airport will support significant population and employment growth in the coming decade, which are expected to substantially increase demand for hotel room nights in Parramatta.
“Bringing the first Marriott Hotel to Parramatta is a profound milestone for JQZ as we expand our portfolio and diversify our assets into the hospitality sector. Marriott’s legacy of excellence and commitment to service deeply aligns with JQZ’s core values of creating spaces that inspire connection and belonging, and their principles of integrity, inclusivity, and community-first hospitality resonate strongly our JQZ’s vision. Our collaboration with Marriott International represents a bold step towards positioning Parramatta on the global stage, and our shared dedication to elevating experiences servicing the needs of our local community and international travellers”, said Mr. Jianqiu Zhang, Chairman of JQZ.
Tristan Cooper, Director Hotel Development – ANZP, Marriott International added, “It’s exciting to enter the Parramatta market, and we are thrilled to do so in partnership with JQZ through delivering our globally recognized Marriott brand. We look forward to offering a distinct point of difference to the city’s hotel scene, and elevating its growing and vibrant skyline, with the expected opening of the Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta, in mid-2027.”
