North Queensland icon Castaways Resort & Spa sold and settled to Travel + Leisure Co., brokered by ResortBrokers’ Far North Queensland broker Leah Bursztynowicz and Managing Director Trudy Crooks.
ResortBrokers’ Far North Queensland broker Leah Bursztynowicz and Managing Director Trudy Crooks have settled the sale of the freehold going concern of Castaways Resort & Spa.
The 48-key resort was sold to Travel + Leisure Co., the world’s leading vacation ownership company, which will operate the resort under its popular Club Wyndham brand.
Castaways occupies more than 100 metres of absolute beachfront at Mission Beach, between Townsville and Cairns, and enjoys views of Dunk Island and the Family Islands.
“We received enormous interest in this offering with over 100 enquiries resulting in 12 inspections and several highly competitive offers,” says Leah Bursztynowicz.
“We’re delighted Castaways will be operated by Travel + Leisure Co., which has the global clout to put this iconic resort on local and international radars.”
“Club Wyndham Mission Beach will be the 67th addition to our Club Wyndham South Pacific portfolio and will prove to be a perfect destination for owners taking eastern coast road trips between existing resorts at Airlie Beach and Cairns,” says Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director, International Operations, Travel + Leisure Co.
“We look forward to showcasing the beauty of Mission Beach and the surrounding region to our club owners and their guests.”
“The smart money is moving into accommodation. We’re seeing the highest demand in ResortBrokers’ 40-year history for accommodation assets of all sizes in regional, coastal and CBD locations right across the country,” says Trudy Crooks. “Mission Beach has proven appeal as one of North Queensland’s top holiday destinations, and Castaways’ iconic stature attracted a top-quality buyer in the form of Travel + Leisure Co.”
