The Duke’s Inn Northam - one of the Wheatbelt’s oldest and most renowned hotels - is being offered for sale through CBRE Hotels' Ryan McGinnity.
An opportunity to capitalitise on the regional travel surge among intrastate tourists in WA is being offered in the form of a heritage-listed hotel for sale within the state's Whaetbelt area.
First opened in 1907, Duke’s Inn Northam boasts a modern restaurant, sports bar and alfresco beer garden, as well as 39 mixed rooms that provide a range of accommodation options.
The venue has undergone recent refurbishment, while still maintaining its traditional old-world charm.

CBRE Hotels Ryan McGinnity, who has been appointed to market the property, said the sale coincided with a spike in WA regional travel.
“With current travel restrictions prohibiting people from being able to travel abroad – and even more widely throughout the rest of Australia, more Western Australians are exploring their own backyard," he said.
"This is providing a welcome boost to our local tourism industry, with regional hotel operators experiencing heightened demand from local travellers."

According to CBRE, Australians spent 181 million nights overseas in 2019, equating to an average of nine nights overseas per person.
A significant proportion of these room nights is expected to be diverted to local options in 2020 and 2021, helping boost local tourism markets.
Mr McGinnity said Northam had a number of major tourism drawcards that would attract visitors to the region.
“Home to several world-class events, Northam is the starting point of the world-renowned Avon Decent, a 124km white water race along the Avon River, as well as recently having been chosen to host the fifth Women’s World Hot Air Ballooning Championships in 2021,” he said.

“These events and others are expected to create substantial demand from intrastate tourists as they heed the call from Tourism WA to Wander out Yonder in 2020 and beyond.
Already the affects of the inability to travel abroad are seeing substantial benefits to regional WA.”
"Northam and the wider region are set to be a major beneficiary of this intrastate travel boom, as locals explore regions such as the Avon Valley.
"The Dukes Inn takes in magnificent views and is the ideal place to spend the night or have meal while exploring greater WA.”
The Duke’s Inn Northam is being offered for sale via Offers to Purchase closing September 29th.
