Kelvyn Coffey has specialised exclusively in the sale of motels, motor inns and tourist hotels since 1984, with the forming of a company then known as South Island Motel Brokers Ltd. This company enjoyed success in the travellers accommodation industry market throughout the 1980's, with expansion of its activities into hotel brokerage (pubs and taverns) and later general business brokerage. Having sold his interests in that company, (which operates today under a different name) Kelvyn formed this company in 1995. The reason being that he wished to refocus on specialising full time in the tourism property industry. In 1996 Kelvyn was appointed the South Island consultant to the Motel Association of New Zealand. Kelvyn provides consultancy to MANZ members as part of the benefit of their membership. Advice is often sought on areas relating to leases, rentals, market trends etc. He is a strong advocate for the Motel Association and believes firmly in the value and service it provides to its members. As such he assists where possible in MANZ Roadshows, where the Association endeavours to provide information and education to its members on visits to their respective regions. Kelvyn has seen this industry through its highs and lows and is happy to share this experience with anyone contemplating entering the business. Kelvyn lives in Christchurch and is married with four children. When time permits, hobbies include cycling (no lycra), snowboarding, photography, reading and hi-fi.
