The Tourism New Zealand board has appointed René de Monchy as its Interim Chief Executive following the resignation of Stephen England-Hall at the end of last month.
The new year will bring change at the helm of Tourism New Zealand, with Commercial Director René de Monchy to take the reigns as Interim CEO.
Mr de Monchy will occupy the role from January 11, 2021, taking over from outgoing CEO Stephen England-Hall, who announced his departure last month.
Having been with Tourism New Zealand for the past five years, he said he was looking forward to guiding the organisation through a "critical time".

“We have a solid strategy in place that is focused on ensuring the sector gives back more than it takes and a work programme that is working well to encourage domestic visitation and keep the brand alive internationally for the eventual return of overseas visitors."
Tourism New Zealand Board Chair Jamie Tuuta said Mr de Monchy had been "instrumental" in his role as a member of the executive team.
“Tourism is vital to New Zealand’s recovery and we have an important job to do to support the sector and Aotearoa," he said.
"René brings the experience, expertise and leadership to help us continue to do this.”
